Is a 5 gallon paint strainer bag safe to use for hops in the boil?

Is a 5 gallon paint strainer bag safe to use for hops in the boil?

1. Traditionally, our paint filter bags are used to filter paint.

The paint strainer bags have 9 vertical threads and 5 horizontal threads, so 45 TPI (threads per inch). Paint filter bags are designed to remove large pieces of dry paint, or dry wallpaper stuck to the roller, or if spraying, anything else that would interfere with the operation of the paint sprayer.

The 5 Gallon Paint strainer bag is an accessory to help keep out any unwelcome impurities when working with paint liquids and sprays.

This nylon paint filter is strong, durable and washable.

It also includes an elastic top for a secure fit.

This accessory is recommended for use with latex and oil-based paints to prevent clogging and to filter out dried flakes and lumps. Holds up to 5 gallons.

2. Since the material of our paint filter bag is food grade, it can also be used as milk filter bag, beer filter bag, tea bag and hop bags.

Some people are afraid that paint filter bags are not food grade and that they are not safe if they are boiled in hot water.

Please see feedback from users below:

Mary: I used a 5 gallon one. they work well

Cici: I use a 5 gallon paint filter bag to hold the hops during the boil. The size of the bag allows it to be tumbled open, allowing the wort to flow to utilize the hops, but it keeps most of the hop residue out of the fermenter, so I harvest a cleaner yeast slurry. I dry hop in 1 gallon bags.

Mike: These are exactly what I use. There are currently no negative side effects!

Jessica: Hmm. great idea for making tea

Victoria: I would cut off the elastic on the top before you start cooking. But if you only have the voile bag left, you shouldn't have any problems.
