Let us introduce rosin filter bags from Material, Micron, Dimensions, Application.
Material
The rosin filter bags are made of 100% Food grade nylon material.
The best material should be food-grade and boil resistant, allows for a bit of flex under pressure, and is pliable enough to easily work with.
Although there are nylon, silk, and metal bags available, only nylon material makes the grade. Silk doesn’t flex and is therefore more prone to blowouts, and metal screens can damage your plates. Nylon is the best material for pressing rosin.
Micron
The micron you are looking for depends on the material you are pressing. Sizes range from 15 to 120 microns. For pressed rosin, 120 microns is the largest size you would normally consider since hemp hairs are 120 microns in diameter (if not a little smaller). However, 160 and 220 micron bags are ideal for double bagging.
The main micron size:25, 37, 45, 73, 90, 120, 160, 190, 220 um
So which micron size should we use?
Flower : 75-120 microns and higher
Dry sift or Kief: 25-75 microns
Bubble Hash: 5-37 microns
115-micron – Flower and trim rosin at excellent yield with good quality
90-micron – Flower and trim rosin at great yield with great quality
72-micron – Flower and trim rosin at good yield with excellent quality
72-micron – Kief and bubble hash at excellent yield with good quality
36 micron – Flower at decent yield with the best possible quality
36-micron – Kief and bubble hash at good yield with excellent quality
Dimension
The hot size: 1.25"x3.25", 1.75"x5", 1.75"x8", 2"x3.5", 2"x6",2"x4.5",3''*6''
How big is your plate? How much original material would you like to press at a time? A bag full of rosin should fit nicely into the parameters of your plate and include about an inch of extra material at the top of the bag, which should be folded over to prevent the material from squeezing out of the top.
The tips of using rosin filter bags
Whether you are new to the rosin press, or want to improve your current quality and yield levels, this short guide will help you understand the importance of using rosin filter bags when pressing rosin and how to determine the right bag for your setup.
Rosin filter bags are used to hold hemp flowers, kief or bubble hashes when pressed between heated plates. The rosin bag provides a barrier for the rosin to separate from the raw material so that the final product is free of impurities.
Rosin filter bags are also used to achieve a more consistent density in the packaging of flowers, kief, or hashes, where rosin can flow freely from your material to parchment paper. By playing around with the rosin bag and its contents between your fingers, you can resolve any inconsistencies or small gaps in the material by eliminating the pockets between the flower pieces. This consistent packaging material will optimize your rosin yield.
Also, marijuana can be pressed without a rosin bag, but you may have tiny particles of plant matter in the rosin. Since the heat and pressure between the plates causes the hemp hairs and terpenes to liquefy, the bag ensures that only the good stuff is squeezed out and your ingredients stay inside, separated from the rosin.
While rosin filter bags all serve the same purpose, they are not "one size fits all" products. The main issues to consider when choosing the right bag are material, micron, and size.
